Happy Fourth!

It's July Fourth. No big professional bangs in the sky tonight, just neighborhood knock-offs bought in the states next to where we reside. We will be inside, watching TV no doubt. But I watched Hamilton this weekend, so I have a renewed love and hope for this country. I also plan on reading something out of one of my father's many books that I inherited. Something about this country that will make me feel pride in my country.

Speaking of pride, I am quite proud of myself. I bought Disney+ this weekend because I wanted to watch Hamilton that bad. Also, I am married to a Disney freak who will make good use out of the Disney/Pixar library that it provides. I bought it on my laptop. I couldn't figure out how to get it on my TV once I bought it. My usual method of figuring something out goes like this: Confusion, frustration, *&%$#, tenacious attitude that I CAN do this, concentration......success! And that's what happened.

My husband has a new toy....

I had bought him a cheaper drone for Christmas. It was fun, but quite wobbly. So, he upgraded to this. It's a fun toy and the camera quality is great. I can't wait to take it out to the park and video the Patapsco Valley in the fall with all of the leaves turning. Endless possibilities..

Reggie, on the other hand, treats it like the birds on the fence. He likes to jump up and try to eat it.

I started a sock with some XXL sock yarn.

Here's a little owl that sits on my fence. We bought it at a garden center that went out of business after many years. It seems my house if full of treasured things that were bought at places that no longer exist. Testament to the fact that times change.

Have a wonderful Fourth of July, readers!

  1. Happy 4th of July. I hope Reggie does not catch the drone. The owl on the fence is so cute. It is sad when the local businesses close down, we lost our favorite bakery. Have a great holiday weekend.

    1. Yes. It has been fun to fly it high over the roads and look down.

  3. I bought Disney Plus when I wanted to watch the Mandelorian and I was fine seeing it on my little laptop. I spent yesterday trying to figure out how to get it on the TV so The Mister and I could watch Hamilton tonight together. It took some figuring but I got it done. Now I just hope it "took". It was a pain.

  4. Happy 4th of July to you. I hope your day of celebration is a great one. I also enjoy drone shots. Our son uses them in his business and has gotten special permission by the government to fly the drone over parts of Tokyo. That was really cool to see
    Blessings,

  5. Happy 4th, Margaret.

I think I am the only person in the world that did NOT watch Hamilton last night. Our cable company does not offer Disney+ --- some sort of corporate feud and I wasn't going to spend the money to watch it on my phone. :-(

    1. I called Comcast- They don't offer it because it's a streaming service and cable is not a platform for streaming services. I went online to Disney and bought it. Then I downloaded the app onto my smart TV.

  6. Same to you! We are celebrating much the same--we usually get together with sons and grands and have a big fireworks display. Now we watched some on tv and I hear our down the road neighbors booming away....
I will look forward to next year with them! Nice new pair of socks--
the drone looks like so much fun!

    1. I hope that next year brings more closeness to all of us. It's hard to self-isolate during times of celebration.

I have my brother's logon for Disney+. I really should check it out one of these days.

  9. I bought disney + for the same reasons! I knew how to get it onto our tv though, ha ha (roku). I love Disney and will be watching many things on it but who knows how I will feel in a year. Somebody lost their drone in the woods this weekend, they think it's in a tree....good luck!!

  10. Love your little owl.

If the new drone exercises Reggie, that alone is a win! ;-)
