Friday

the week is almost over. Where did it go? One day just blends into the next. No anchors on my schedule to plug me into a certain day. Just a slow ride of monotony. It's what we fill our days after days after days with that makes them interesting. Walks, knitting, an online chat with a friend, baking, reading. It's all stuff to fill our days so that they don't end in emptiness.

I have a friend who is posting how she can finally get her hair done in her state. Off she goes to the stylist that's newly opened. Like nothing happened. It worries me. Where will she be in a few weeks? I also have local friends who are home and Covid-19 positive. They are in their 40's and have a relatively mild case, but still are seriously weak all the time and feel like they are still on their vacation last year to Peru- climbing the mountain and working hard to catch a clear breath.

Anyway, here in Maryland my house is still social distancing and staying home for the most part.
Here's today's  rainy day yarnbomb:

I've made some progress on the summer cotton sweater. I'm just about to split the back and front.

There's rain on the hibiscus, giving off a tropical vibe (even though it stayed in the low 60's today).
Hope you had a Good Friday!

Thursday

Yesterday was a bust. Cold, rainy and just not a day for a good mood. I worked on my cotton top. I did knit an addition for the tree today.

I am running out of branches that are easy to see from the road. This one is pretty good, but I had to move the knitted star to make it more seen.  Husband said that a runner went by, and said that she loved the tree. Another reason to keep going!

Here's progress on my cotton top. this yarn is so wonderful to knit with. The pattern is Seven Sisters Top, knitted in Blue Sky organic printed cotton. It's super soft and will be good for Summer.

There was a visitor in my yard early this morning. I couldn't grab the camera fast enough to get a close one. Here's a shot through my front window of across the street after it ran. Pretty sure it's a vixen.

I received another goodie in the mail that I bought at MD Sheep and Wool Festival (virtual). Cute little scissors that cut yarn really nicely. Maybe since they're red, I won't lose them as fast!
Here's hoping that you had a sunny day today like I did!

Tuesday

Just a quick post today. I am Skyping with some fellow knitters/friends in about half an hour. Here's the yarn bomb for the day. It's a small pink bow. I was busy today. Lots of gardening and walking outside and just resting.

I received my yeast today from Amazon. They now have plenty in stock, so if you need some, it's worth ordering. It's a whole pound! I'm going to drop off a bit of this to a friend tomorrow.  The rest will go in the freezer once I open it.

Last night I was craving a hamburger made on the grill. My husband obliged, and voila. A juicy yummy cheeseburger. I did remove a few of those onions. I went a little overboard.

My Bridal Wreath is in bloom, and is really nice this year. Last year, it didn't do well. Turns out that it had vines underneath it and was being choked. Last fall, we removed all of the vines. Now it's in its glory.

I also planted the tomatoes and the cucumbers. I don't know if it's too soon, but I'm going to try to get these going. The cucumbers look better than the tomatoes.

Above:  Cukes.

Above: Scrawny maters.

The basil looks a lot healthier!

See you tomorrow.

Monday

Today, A little dropped stitch for the tree. I had to use a ladder for the first time. A group of neighbors walked by (presumed to be one family) and one of them shouted out, "Love it!" That made it all worthwhile. I like that it makes people smile.

Last night, we ate the last of the crab cakes from the freezer. My son is the chef at a local restaurant and loaded us up with some crab cakes right before lockdown.  They're now all gone. What a treat.

I got a package in the mail today from one of the vendors from whom I ordered this weekend at Maryland Sheep And Wool Festival (virtual). That was fast! Toad Hollow had a collection of yarns with a Fairytale theme. The multi colored is called Musicians of Bremen and the solid colorway is called Little Red Riding Hood. Even the package was uplifting!

We went grocery shopping early today, and I focused on fresh produce verses frozen this trip. Trying to eat right and not be so skittish about eating produce. I had a semi-annual virtual visit with my doctor (which I scheduled in January as a real visit) and it went well. The sun is shining, and we are getting very strong cool breezes. All in all, a good day. Hope your day is going as grand as mine.

Sunday

Today was nice day. Mid-70's, mostly sunny. We took Reggie for a long walk, and then I did some much needed yard work. Pulled up some vines and weeds and cleared out a bit.

Here's a little yarn bomb banner for today:

My hibiscus is blooming, and that makes me smile. My patio isn't complete without a hibiscus.

For the last few days when I go out or in the front door, I am greeted by this jumping spider. I am not a big fan of spiders, but I tolerate them. Jumping spiders are a bit less unnerving to me. Something about their compact little body makes them kind of cute. I have no desire to do him in or transport him to another part of the yard. As long as he doesn't use his jumping skills, he can stay.

I hope that you enjoyed your weekend.

Saturday-Updated

Here's today's addition, added late....Buttons galore.  Taken from my grandmother's button tin. Not the special ones that I treasure, just the mediocre ones that needed a purpose.

Well I ended up joining some friends on messenger online this morning and we all got onto the virtual Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival site. We all looked at the goodies together and bought a few of them.  It was fun, but not the same as when we meet for real and go together. Oh well. There's always next year.

I did buy something early from Berry Meadow Farm. It's an alpaca farm with really nice yarn. I bought it Friday. Look what I found on my doorstep this morning!

It's a shawl kit that's just wonderful. The yarn is so soft and the colors are rich.

Colorway that I bought is Aubergine and Fawn. Gorgeous.

It all came in this cute bag!
I bought a few other things, which I will post about as I receive them.

Celery report:

Garden report:

Dragons will be snapping soon!

My mother-in-law's Hosta is coming in great guns. I sprayed it with "Deer Out" so that it does not become a salad bar.

Lillies of the Valley are in bloom and the yard is filled with their fragrance.

We took Reggie for a long walk. This was the first day that it's really been warm. He came home and plopped down like this on the cool tile floor of the sunroom.

I told him that it's just the beginning!

Stop by later for a yarn bomb. I'm a little late with that.

Friday

It's late. Thought I'd pop in and leave a yarn bomb for y'all. Thanks to my fellow blogger over at DelightedHands, I tried out a new stitch today for the tree. Here's a little bit of honeycomb stitch:

Thanks for the help, C!  It was a fun stitch.

Some things that happened today...I went onto the Maryland Sheep and Wool virtual Festival Facebook page, and found some goodies to buy. Vendors like Toad Hollow and Berrymeadow Farm caught my eye, and I succumbed to their beautiful yarn. I will have more of that later.  The "festival" doesn't start until tomorrow, but many things are selling out already. Sheesh.

My husband saw a fox in our yard today. This is not uncommon. But what was uncommon was that he had a squirrel in his mouth as he ran to the backyard! Kind of glad that I didn't see that.

I planted some things today. I knit and actually started a new project. More on that later. Going to bed. See you tomorrow!
