Sunday

Today was nice day. Mid-70's, mostly sunny. We took Reggie for a long walk, and then I did some much needed yard work. Pulled up some vines and weeds and cleared out a bit.

Here's a little yarn bomb banner for today:

My hibiscus is blooming, and that makes me smile. My patio isn't complete without a hibiscus.

For the last few days when I go out or in the front door, I am greeted by this jumping spider. I am not a big fan of spiders, but I tolerate them. Jumping spiders are a bit less unnerving to me. Something about their compact little body makes them kind of cute. I have no desire to do him in or transport him to another part of the yard. As long as he doesn't use his jumping skills, he can stay.

I hope that you enjoyed your weekend.

  1. I like the happy yarn banner today and you're much more patient with that spider than I would be. I can't stand spiders of any kind.
    Happy Sunday!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

    1. As long as he doesn't jump into my house, he's welcome.

  2. I love the yarn work today. I used to work at an apple orchard and for some reason those jumping spiders loved the Fuji apples! I seldom seen them on any other apples but the Fujis had enough for the whole orchard.

I don' kill many spiders either...I know they do a lot of good.

    1. Fuji apples! Some of my favorites. I will have to keep them away from Mr. Jumpy.

  4. WE have lots of those little jumping spiders here. I love them. They are cute!
Love your hibiscus. I used to have a tall topiary one - three colours braided together. I'd bring it in every winter, but one winter it got white fly really bad and never recovered. Maybe I should try a smaller one this year.

  5. You are braver than I over the spider! I don't like any in the house!
I especially don't like the spider webs! Love the yarn bombing banner!

    1. This one hangs out by my front door, and is on the outside. Not sure if jumping spiders make webs, but I don't think that they do.

  6. I used to always have pots of hibiscus when the kids had pet iguanas. They loved the blossoms. I always think of our big green monsters whenever I see one. They were terrible pets-they grew to almost 5 feet long but the kids did love them.

    1. I have a friend who had a big long iguana. They had a special cage that was more like a terrarium that took up half the room and was as tall as the ceiling!

  7. I had a spider in my window that I allowed to live for 5 months(he was outside I was inside) On Saturday I finally cleaned that kitchen window to remove his/her webbing since he/she was no more. Spiders eat ants so that is cool with me! Love your hibiscus!!

    1. Yes! Agreed on that whole anti-ant thing! I would rather have one spider than a colony of ants.

  8. The yarn banner is so pretty and nice. The spider? Not so much - lol. Not a fan of spiders at all.

    1. Thank you. Spiders are definitely not my favorite, but somehow this one seems less scary.

  9. Hello, Love the yarn bombs and the hibiscus is beautiful. I want one for our deck. It is too early here, our temps are going down to freezing at night this week. I have never seen a jumping spider, not a fan of spiders. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a happy new week ahead.
